3 Types Of Laboratory Crushers For Sample Ore Preparation

Laboratory crushers divide into laboratory jaw crushers, laboratory hammer crushers, and laboratory roller crushers according to their working principles. The jaw crusher is commonly used in the laboratory, suitable for intermittent or continuous crushing of various medium hardness ores or other solid bulk materials, and for producing samples for component analysis. A laboratory hammer crusher is a crusher that directly crushes materials with large particle sizes of 50-150 millimeters to 1, 3, 6, and 13 millimeters or less for laboratory sample preparation. The laboratory roller crusher is equipment for finely crushing materials, and its crushing method is the roller compression type. These three types of equipment are popular in mineral processing experiments. Let’s take a look at the detailed introduction of these equipment together.

lab crushers

Laboratory Jaw Crusher

  • Function: Preliminary breaking of large materials into small particles. PE series jaw crushers have wide applications in various buildings, aggregate crushing lines, and crushing sections in the mineral processing industry.
  • The main components of the laboratory jaw crusher are the belt, flywheel, and motor, by continuous compression of two jaw plates to achieve grinding purpose.
  • The use of a jaw plate is to squeeze and crush stones, which is easy to operate and maintain, effectively reducing the wear and tear of the secondary crushing machine. This jaw crusher’s feeding port size reaches 100mm. After starting, the two jaw plates compress each other, breaking the material into small particles to 30-40 mm, and then discharging it from the discharge port.
  • The lab jaw crusher is suitable for crushing granite, marble, basalt, limestone, quartzite, rock gold, lithium ore, chromium ore, copper lead zinc ore, etc.

Performance characteristics of laboratory jaw crusher

  1. The crushing ratio is up to about 15, with uniform particle size;
  2. Spacer-type discharge port adjustment device with a wide adjustment range and reliable operation;
  3. High production efficiency, low energy consumption, compared to an ordinary fine jaw crusher, the processing capacity is increased by 20-35% compared to a similar specification machine, and the energy consumption is reduced by 15-20%;
  4. The crushing chamber is deep and has no dead zone, improving the feeding capacity and output;
  5. The use of hyperbolic jaw plates reduces wear, and under the same process conditions, the lifetime of the jaw plates will extend to more than 3-4 times, especially for high abrasive materials;
  6. The lubrication system is safe and reliable, with convenient component replacement and a low maintenance workload.

Machine Maintenance

During maintenance, operators should regularly stop the machine and inspect it. The stone crushing equipment should shut down regularly to check the internal wear on the inside, especially the wear level of the central feeding pipe, cone cap, impeller upper and lower flow channel lining plates, circumferential protection plates, and wear-resistant blocks. Operators should promptly replace severely worn components and repair them. Pay special attention to the lubrication of each spare part. When the equipment has been working for over 2,000 hours, the operator should open the spindle assembly to clean the bearings. In general, replace the bearings with new ones after 7200 hours of operation.

Laboratory Roller Crusher

  • The laboratory double roller crusher is for crushing non-metallic materials such as coal, ore, and rock, which is suitable for intermediate and fine crushing of raw materials in the laboratory.
  • This machine uses two rollers to rotate relative to each other to crush the material entering the crushing chamber, then enters the receiving hopper through the gap between the two rollers, with adjustable discharge particle size.
  • The surface of the roller is specially processed and does not stick to materials. It is divided into two types: smooth roller and toothed roller, for users to choose from.
  • The crushing method of the laboratory roller crusher is the roller compression type, and the crushed material should be brittle. The shape of the crushed material is mostly in regular flakes, and the hardness of the crushed material is less than level 3.
  • The equipment has a compact structure, sealed design, and no dust pollution. The machine uses two rollers to rotate to each other to crush the material entering the crushing chamber and then pass through the gap between the two rollers into the receiving hopper. If the moisture content of the material exceeds 6%, particle bonding will occur.

Applicable Materials: The roller crusher is for laboratory use for crushing coal, ore, rock, or other non-metallic substances with medium hardness. Suitable for the second or third crushing of various ores, such as rock gold, lithium ore, chromium ore, copper lead zinc ore, etc.

Function: The roller crusher belongs to the intermediate and fine crushing equipment of raw materials. The crushing method is a roller compression type.

Characteristics of lab double roller crusher machine:

  1. Continuously complete crushing, sample mixing, and grading work.
  2. Adopting a combination transmission, it operates at a specific speed and smoothly without material blockage.
  3. Sealing device to prevent dust leakage.
  4. Simple operation, uniform discharge particle size, and flexible adjustment.
  5. The equipment has a large crushing ratio, adjustable discharge particle size, and high production efficiency.

Maintenance

  • We should regularly check the usage of the lab roller crusher, and ensure that the surface of the rollers is smooth and free from pits and scratches. If the above situation occurs, replace a new pair of rollers.
  • When adjusting the gap between the rollers, tighten the adjusting handwheel first, then loosen the handwheel and adjust it by 3 millimeters per revolution of the handwheel. When adjusting the appropriate gap, tighten the nut. Prevent improper adjustment from causing the opposite rollers to be out of parallel, resulting in eccentric wear of the bearing pads.
  • When feeding material, check carefully to prevent hard materials and iron tools from entering the machine. It is strictly prohibited to troubleshoot and perform any cleaning work during operation. Stop feeding the machine before stopping the machine, and wait until all the materials are crushed inside the machine before it stops.
  • Regularly inspect the triangular belt and sprocket chain used in the crusher. If the damage level reaches 30%, replace it with new ones and cannot mix with old ones. The laboratory conducts a thorough overhaul of the roller crusher once a year.

Laboratory Hammer Crusher

  • This machine consists of components like the body, feed hopper, crushing chamber, spindle, hammer head, hammer core clamp, sieve plate, etc. The electric motor drives the spindle to rotate through a triangular belt pulley, and the hammerhead operates according to the adjusted trajectory to break the materials in the crushing chamber.
  • A laboratory hammer crusher is equipment specifically designed for laboratory sample preparation, which directly crushes materials with a maximum particle size of 50-150 millimeters to 1, 3, 6, and 13 millimeters or less. The laboratory hammer crusher is for coarse crushing, medium crushing, and fine crushing of raw materials. It is suitable for crushing materials like coal, limestone, pyrite, phosphate rock, coal gangue, etc. The crushing method is splitting crushing.

Characteristics

  1. Fully sealed design, no dust pollution, in compliance with environmental requirements.
  2. The crushing working chamber is made of precision alloy structural steel, which is wear-resistant and durable, effectively preventing sample contamination and overheating.
  3. Full-width high manganese steel hammer head, capable of crushing materials across the entire section, with no blockage in the working chamber and no dead corner sample storage phenomenon.
  4. High crushing ratio, uniform discharge particle size, and high sample preparation efficiency. Adapt to various material samples, without blockage or loss of moisture.
  5. Operation, cleaning, and maintenance are convenient, with stable operation with low noise.
  6. All transmission components have protective facilities that meet safety production requirements.

Maintenance

  • Regular attention and timely lubrication of the friction surface will ensure the operation of the machine and extend its service life.
  • The location of the lubricating grease required for this machine requires users to add lubricating grease once per shift.
  • When this machine is not in use, clean it thoroughly, cover it with plastic film or other materials at the rotating parts, and inject it with lubricating grease.

When selecting a laboratory crusher, we should choose appropriate equipment based on the different properties of the material and discharge requirements.
